Scrumptious for anyone who loves shrimp and pasta recipes, particularly when combined with a marinara sauce over pasta! This top secret Garlic shrimp pasta recipe with marinara sauce boasts a flavor that is hard to beat. Whenever possible, I like to use fresh herbs not only for taste, but the aroma. I always keep a bag of fresh organic lemons in my fridge that I like to use in a lot of my Italian seafood recipes. It always adds a bit of zing and is full of vitamin C.

This top secret recipe comes from an old Italian family cookbook handed down in the Romano family to my father Guiseppe. Serve it up with a crispy Italian salad topped with artichoke dressing! Throw a nice garlic loaf in the oven and you have a meal fit for a king or queen!

Garlic Shrimp Pasta Recipe with Marinara Sauce

  • 3 tbsp of olive oil
  • 5-6 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Optional: 1 tbsp salted capers
  • 1/3 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1-6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 2 tomato paste cans water
  • 1 large can Italian plumb tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/3 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 lb of fresh or frozen large shrimp (shelled and de-veined)
  • 1-lb (454g) Spaghettini or linguine
  • Fresh grated Romano or Asagio cheese
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, saute onion, garlic, red pepper flakes and capers in olive oil until light brown.
  2. Stir in tomato paste and water fry for 3 min.
  3. Add lemon juice, and tomatoes.
  4. Add salt, pepper.
  5. Simmer uncovered for 20 minutes then cover and simmer for additional 20 min.
  6. Add shrimp and fresh basil, cook 5 min.
  7. Serve over hot linguine or spaghettini (cooked al dente as always!)
  8. Top with fresh grated (Romano or Asagio) cheese and fresh ground pepper

Cook time: 45 min.
